Xaviera uses a very casual language in The Happy Hooker, peppering her writing liberally with curse words and graphic descriptions of sexual acts. This is appropriate to her subject matter, as she is a prostitute herself and is familiar with the slang terms used in that profession. Normally taboo acts are treated with nonchalance through Xaviera's extremely straightforward wording. The few bits of dialogue included are used to illustrate the personality of a character or to spice up a description of an event. Xaviera is a biased narrator, as the events in The Happy Hooker occurred in her own life, and expresses her opinions of the events she recounts through her wording and choice of quotes. In addition, she often directly expresses her opinions about people and events.
