Debra is a Jewish woman in her mid-thirties, who is described as having large brown eyes and a large mouth. She owns a court transcription service, and she employs Tessie. Debra meets Henry at a reading, and although he finds her fairly unlikable, he has sexual relations with her anyway.

Tessie is Debra's employee, who also has sexual relations with Henry, after which, she worried that she will lose her job.
