The Sword of Truth is a symbol and, when used correctly, a metaphor for truth. Zedd names Richard the Seeker of Truth and gives him the Sword of Truth. The sword is silver, with an intricately intertwined handle of silver and gold wire. The grip of the sword is engraved with the word "truth." When Richard grasps the sword, he can feel the word etched into his hand. The sword has magic that gives the Seeker even more power to question people. The magic prevents the sword from being used to kill anybody unless the Seeker believes they deserve to die.
