In the free verse poem, Why I Am Not a Painter, the author, Frank O'Hara, wishes (at first) that he was a painter. He illustrates the point that he has a friend who IS a painter, and describes the seeming flaky nature of his friend and the way his creative process works. Then, of course, being a poet, and not a painter, he comes to the conclusion that he's just as flaky with his process, too.
