What are the rules of the hunting competition in Where the Red Fern Grows?

• For 5 nights Five sets of dogs will be sent out to hunt for five nights. The hunters are accompanied by a judge to eliminate cheating.

• The catch of the night is officially turned in by the judge. Coons must be skinned to be counted.

• The two highest catches catch qualify for the championship run off.
