Urban and country life are reocurring ideas in this story. Throughout this story, Sean has the opportunity to live both lifestyles. He lives in the deep wilderness, both with Dufford Charleywood and with Katrina Leroux. It is a life that suits him. He hunts for food and ivory, and takes his wagon train from watering hole to watering hole, moving with the seasons.
