Lawrence Hilibrand was from Cherry Hill, New Jersey, where his father was employed as an engineer. Hilibrand had two degrees from MIT, and he was originally hired by Salomon's Research Department. From there, he moved to the Arbitrage Department, where he worked for Meriwether. When Meriwether founded Long-Term, he hired Hilibrand away from Salomon. Hilibrand was considered the most intelligent of the group, and he was also one of the big losers at the end.
