Who is Mrs. Spring from The Voice on the Radio and what is their importance?

Mrs. Spring is Janie's mother. She is described as a supportive and very strong individual. Mrs. Spring had given up hope that her daughter was alive, so when she is returned to them she is elated. She is very patient with Janie, and she allows Janie to work through her emotions and having been ripped away from the parents that actually raised her.
