Actions and consequences are recurring ideas. The series of Janie books written by Caroline Cooney are essentially a series of actions and consequences. In the beginning, Jennie disappears. Her mother is shopping with five children in tow, and as the middle child, she was left out. The twins were young and a handful, demanding their mother's attention while her brother Stephen and sister Jodie were also paired up and amusing themselves.
