William Golding was influenced by England by virtue of the fact that he attended Oxford for a time. He lived for many years there, married there, had children there. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II and won a pulizer prize. The idea of a boy's boarding school (traditional and very prevalent in England) can be seen in Lord of the Flies. Additionally, the boy's langauge and syntax are primarily English in nature.
