How does the author use foreshadowing in We the Living?

“Child,” said Vasili Ivanovitch,” what are you doing in Soviet Russia?”
“That,” said Kira, “is what I’m wondering about.”

Through this short dialogue, Rand foreshadows the events of the novel, as it is clear as a day that Kira, a free spirit, will be destroyed by the state she despises.
