Jellyfish symbolizes the persistence of beauty even in a world that is filled with horrible events and actions. After living in a state of despair in Nova Scotia, Wash eventually regains some passion for life after witnessing the beauty of glowing jellyfish in the harbor. He feels reinvigorated and takes up his favored crafts of drawing and painting again.
