Importance of Drawing and Painting

Drawing and painting symbolize personal passion and self-actualization. Under Titch’s tutelage, Wash learns to read, write, and draw, and Wash discovers that he has a deep passion for drawing. Wash continues to study and practice, and he later becomes a painter as well, thereby achieving a sense of personal satisfaction within his life of hardship.
