Who is Mr. George Hunter from Up in the Old Hotel and Other Stories and what is their importance?

Mr. George Hunter was the caretaker of the cemetery at Sandy Ground. Mr. Hunter was an elderly man who was a very good cook and knew all the people of the community. He was also familiar with the founding of the town, having been brought there by his mother when Mr. Hunter was very young. He took Mitchell for a tour of the cemetery, talking to him about the people and the history of the area, and naming wildflowers for him.
