Henry O. Jackson is a Baptist minister. He lives in Stillwater, and he is the first of the town's people who is willing to greet Karl's group, as the others are frightened of cholera. Henry takes the whole group into his home. He feeds them and provides them with a place to sleep for their one night in Stillwater. He eventually converts Ulrika to Baptist Christianity and marries her.
