How does Donovan get into the gifted school?

Donovan is in detention when he decides to sneak out and hit a statue in front of the school. This act of vandalism causes a large globe to smash the school doors and damage the floor of the gym. Caught by the superintendent of schools, Dr. Schultz, he is written up.... the superintendent, however, fills out the wring form and accidentally puts Donovan’s name on the roster of gifted students being transferred to the Academy for Scholastic Distinction.
