Is Stowe a pacifist?

Tom suggests that it is wrong to respond violence with violence.In this sense;can we say Stowe tries to defend pacifism?

Stowe was initially a pacifist, but with the advent of the Civil War, her pacifist beliefs disappeared. Stowe believed in her heart that the Civil War was the only way to end slavery, and in her own words, “Better, a thousand times better, open, manly, energetic war, than cowardly and treacherous peace...”
