What is the end of the Twilight book about?

At the end of the novel, Twilight, Edward takes Bella to her Junior Prom. During the prom, Jacob gives Bella a message from his father, "We'll be watching", something that embarrasses him to do. In the end, we learn that Bella still wants to be turned..... but Edward only promises her forever and symbolically kisses her neck.
