Why do you think the author has DJ and Ben get caught at the Freedom Center? Explain your thinking

Need to explain why do Arthur let them get caught or have them get caught at the Freedom Center

The fact the two sneak out to see the Freedom Center and are subsequently caught, opens the door for conversations within their families.... the opportunity to be open.... to discuss loss.
