Erawan is a symbol of enigmatic evil. As an ancient Valg king, he threatens Adarlan and the rest of the world with his intentions to wage a destructive war. Throughout the novel, the characters attempt to understand his motivations, but, due to his lack of humanity, struggle to understand how to defeat him.
