Invasions in provence is a central theme in this book. The Mayles, who have become permanent foreign residents in the Provence region of South France, are confronted with the same issues that the locals have been facing for many seasons. In the summer months of June and July, the Provence, especially its picturesque section known as the Lubéron, is invaded by tourists. Publicity from magazines such as American Vogue and French Vogue, as well as from word of mouth, has spread the news that the Lubéron is a chic area that is a favorite stop for the elite and sophisticated.
