Cole's apology is different because he finally admits that he needs to stop blaming others for his actions, and that in order to get over his anger, he needs to stop blaming others.

“I know that saying I’m sorry about my attitude isn’t enough, but I want you to know that I am sorry.” He paused. “When I was carrying the rock this morning, I realized that I won’t ever get over my anger unless I quit blaming others for everything.
