Ironically, this poem was resurrected to the modern masses through the late Robin Williams's movie Dead Poets Society (1989). The poem supported the theme of the movie which could be summed up in the Latin phrase Carpe Diem or "seize the day". People must enjoy the pleasures of life while they still can. They must take risks and make their present day extraordinary instead of waiting for another day that may not come.
