As Jem and Scout were so consumed into what was happening across the street (the fire) Boo Radley snuck a blanket of Scouts cold body; but because they were so consumed in watching the fire Jem and her did not notice that it was Boo Radley. Anyways. the importance of it is that Boo is secretly trying to win the friendship of Jem and Scout without them even knowing it. Though Jem is starting to catch on.
