What might be the reason for Mayella's crying in the court?

For one thing, she's not used to being in public and in front of everyone, so she's nervous. Secondly, and more importantly, she knows that she's lied and is planning on lying again, but Atticus flusters so much on the stand that she ends up looking like she doesn't have any sense (might even be a bit mentally slow).
