In Chapter Nine, the children are spending Christmas at Aunt Alexandra's. Aunt Alexandra takes Scout to task for her clothing and unladylike behavior. Later that night, Scout's cousin Francis, make derrogatory comments about her father, something for which she attacks him. Scout, of course, is the only one to get into trouble for the altercation.
