Atticus teaches Scout many lessons throughout the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, but one of the biggest lessons he teaches her is to judge people based on all of the available information (not on rumor, skin color, or assumptions). He urges her to try to see things from others' perspectives to gain some insight as to why someone might be the way that they are.....to learn some compassion for one's fellow man.
