Scout and Jem change immensely over the course of the novel. The one thing that stays the same, however, is the love, respect, and loyalty of their family as a whole. Their homelife is stable and loving, Calpurnia cares for them with love and affection, and Atticus continues to do the same things with then he always has. Together, they grow.... and no matter how much they change themselves, the family unit is held together by their feelings for one another.
