Wesley is Harry Morgan's assistant on the fishing boat. He is described as a tall, intelligent, gloomy black man, who wears blue voodoo beads and an old straw hat. Harry pays him $1 a day, which he spends on a rumba every night. Wesley enjoys reading the paper and has no use for white people beyond money.
