The play's main conflict revolves around the sisters and their unhappy lives. existence. They complain about their jobs, and the problems within their homes, yet, they seemingly do not want to take an active role in changing their circumstances. Their dreams of better lives and living in Moscow are just that..... as the women do nothing to make their own dreams come true.
