Significance of the title and what does it illustrate about the story and human experience

Borders are arbitrary man made ideas. The Blackfoot Indians, for example did not have boarders like the white man have made. Blackfoot country was a part of Canada and the United States. The idea of white borders becomes a major theme in the story.
