Sir Felix Glyde is Percival's father. If Sir Felix had been married to Percival's mother, Cecilia Jane Elster, thus their son was unable to inherit either property or title. Feeling cheated, Percival forged a marriage between his parents in the Old Welmingham Church registry. He spends the rest of his life protecting the lie.
