What happened to Kit after she helped Hannah to reach Nat´s ship?

Kit goes back to town only to find that the townspeople have found the little paddle (horn book) that Hannah had been using to teach the girls their alphabet. Mistaking it for signs of the devil, they arrest Kit for witchcraft.
