Love and obsessive love are themes in this play. Leontes loves Hermione so much that he drives himself to jealousy. Like Othello, Leontes is his own worst enemy. He is so scared and paranoid of losing his love that he publicly accuses Queen Hermione and his childhood friend Polixenes of having an affair.
