Grandmother Aho is said to be a typical Kiowa matron, who runs her house with love and belief in the old ways even though she converted to Christianity. She welcomed everyone, she was wise, and she was much respected. She is described as a small, bent woman with long white hair and a wrinkled face that has been tanned like leather from a life spent in the outdoors.
