Mark Antony was the Roman leader who helped Herod in Rome. He proposed Herod as king to the Senate. After his approval, Antony, Caesar and Herod walked out together to begin his reign. Herod gathered mixed forces on his return to Galilee, Jericho, and the City that included Roman legions from Antony. When Antony and Cleopatra died, Caesar rewarded Herod with lands and cities. He also made him procurator of all Syria.
