Athos from The Vicomte de Bragelonne is one of the original four musketeers who helped to liberate Charles. This book takes place when Athos is a very old man. He has become an alcoholic and a bit of a recluse. His son, Raoul is the Vicomte de Bragelonne. When Raoul is killed, Athos can't handle the news and dies also.
