What does hockey stick represent?

The hockey stick represents charity and diversion. Havildar Charat Singh thinks nothing of giving a new hockey stick to Bakha despite him being an untouchable. He believes that Bakha should be allowed to enjoy himself with his friends and his charity comes without conditions.
