How does Charlotte embarrass Jaggery?

In Chapter Fourteen, Jaggery becomes angry at Charlotte and slaps her across the face, all while hurling insults in her face. Charlotte shocks and embarrasses him when she decides to scream insults back at him. I guess Jaggery isn't used to having anyone talk back to him.
