James Taylor is a detective with a firm in Twickenham. He is twenty-three-years-old. When Rudolf becomes Crown Prince and returns to Razkavia, Jim returns with him as his adviser. Upon his arrival in Eschtenburg, the head of the Royal Household makes it clear that Jim is not a member of the household staff, and that he is in the independent employ of the Prince. Jim isn't quite sure what his responsibilites actually are, but he is determined to protect the Prince for Adelaide's sake. After King Rudolf's assassination, Jim remains in the restructured household of the Queen. He later learns that the deranged Prince Leopold is still alive and being held prisoner in a cell. While trying to rescue the Prince, he is captured and imprisoned as well. Ji, eventually escapes, rescues Becky and Adelaide, and is awarded with the Order of St. Stephen. In the end, Jim and Adelaide decide to marry.
