What are your impressions of Gen?

In my opinion, Gen is a mysterious young man. It's difficult to decide whether he is actually trustworthy or merely a master of hyperbole. Over the course of the novel, we come to see that Gem is not only heroic.... but that he is very like the rest of us. Gen is described as witty, quick-tempered, rude, and sometimes childish.
