The Ames room is a walk-in optical illusion. When viewed from exactly the right angle, the Ames room appears to be a perfect cube. However, one wall is actually taller than the other, and the roof is slanted, which can be easily seen from any other angle. If two people of the same height stand at opposite ends of the room, one will be able to touch the ceiling and the other will not. If you look at this from the angle that makes the room look even, your brain will interpret what it sees as one person being much taller than the other.
