Describe symbolism in The Tale of Genji by Murasaki Shikibu

In Chapter One, we learn that the perfections of Genji's physical body are symbolic of the perfections of his mind and spirit. His beauty on the inside is reflected by his beauty on the outside, and vice-versa.
