Who is Jerome?

Jerome is the only artist that joins the Trentham community that comes from money. His family is incredibly rich and gives him money whenever he needs, a reality he is ashamed of. Before beginning life as an artist, he studied law. When he is introduced to Evan, Jerome is framed as a somewhat prodigious talent. His skill is displayed at his first exhibition, in which he sells more paintings than Evan. After the exhibition, Jerome is poised to overtake Evan as the preeminent Australian painter. Jerome is characterized as a charming, quiet young man, who is well read and kindhearted. He gives Lily books and helps teach Heloise geography and math when she stops going to school.
