After Meursault arranged for his mother to live in a nursing home, why did he visit her so infrequently?

Meursalt believed that nothing had meaning, and therefore if nothing has meaning then there is no real reason to care about anything. This feeling also applied to his mother, who he felt no attachment to. Even attending her funeral was an undesirable chore.
