Meursault is an absurdist, he believes that everything is meaningless and any attempt to find meaning will bring him into conflict with the universe.

Marie is facinated by Meursault's peculiarity, and he is physically attracted to her.

Meursault doesn't care about what people do or say. Everything is worthless. He could cause a very big conflict.

Something attracks him with Marie.

Meursault had his life figured out. It was ordered. It was tidy. Everything fit into a nice neat theory which he held to dogmatically. And then there is Marie. He is attracted to her so much so that he begins to feel a shifting of his habits and the ordering of his life begins to change. This makes him fearful and nervous.
