What does water represent?

In general, water symbolizes healing and nurturing. After the Magician dies, the Strange Bird jumps into the ocean around her mental island which nurtures her. During Wick’s healing, the Strange Bird is in a pool of water. Later in the novel, the Strange Bird comes to an ocean after following her compass. The ocean seems majestic, and the smell of the salt water refreshes the Strange Bird.
