The Strange Bird’s constant imprisonment strongly affects her mental state and perspective. The Strange Bird is constantly being imprisoned throughout the novel. At the start, the Strange Bird is imprisoned in the laboratory. Following this, the Strange Bird is free for a period and then once again captured by the Old Man. Following her stay with the Old Man, she is taken by Charlie X. During this time period, the Strange Bird’s wings are removed, thus shackling her to the Magician.
