Durant writes as an objective historian who presents the facts of individual philosophers lives without qualitative commentary. His objective approach provides the reader with an opportunity to see the philosopher as he lived in the absence of the author's overriding commentary. Durant makes no comment about the lifestyle and location of philosophers. He prefers to present the philosopher and let the reader understand his philosophy as presented.
