Operation PIMLICO called for the extraction of Gordievsky through Finland, and therefore the book depicts Finland as the land of freedom. When the extraction team passes over the border into Finland, they play a symphonic poem entitled "Finlandia," which is a song in celebration of the land, to tell Gordievsky, who is in the trunk, that they have made it (299). In Finland, the extraction team met up with Price and Brown of M16, and they carried on the operation to bring Gordievsky to Britain.
